10:45 AM Panel Discussion Issues and Opportunities for Minority Groups within Organizations
Panel includes:
- Blair H. Taylor, President and CEO, Los Angeles Urban League
- JD Hokoyama, CEO of Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP)

The economic downturn has impacted minority communities differently. During this session, with a panel of experts representing the African American, Latino, Asian and Muslim perspectives, we will explore particular challenges of different minority and ethnic groups and hear what organizations are doing about them.
Topics to be covered include:
- Where does social responsibility end and corporate responsibility begin?
- D&I professionals’ role in promoting awareness and solutions
- The extent to which affinity groups can or could play a role
- Managing inherent competition between groups (if it exists)
- Other options for dealing with new challenges in the context of our corporate realities

Discussion of corporate best practices that address challenges faced by minorities in the workplace (discrimination, glass ceiling issues and other barriers to advancement), as well as community and broader societal challenges (access to education, socioeconomic disparities).
