, will provide an overview of the model being employed by the
committee to embed diversity and inclusion into the department's business strategies. She will
describe how the committee has been able to engage members of the department's senior
leadership team and incorporate the diversity program metrics into the department's overall
strategic initiatives.

Massachusetts Mutual’s Pride ERG turned the tragedy of a young man’s suicide in
Springfield, MA, into a constructive conversation about bullying with their employees and the
community, when they partnered with the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network
(GLSEN). The panel will talk to members abut how Massachusetts Mutual created their own
Safe Space program mirrored after GLSEN’s program to bring the issue of bullying into the
workplace.

1:45 pm Religious Diversity at Work: Creating a Culture of Respect

In today's multicultural workplaces, employees increasingly bring their whole selves to work - including their religious beliefs and practices. Employers often feel challenged by unfamiliar religious practices and are unsure how to respond. Employees may encounter tensions and misunderstandings when requesting religious accommodations or discussing religious differences. Rachel Maryles, Assistant Director Religious Diversity in the Workplace of the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding, will examine trends affecting religious diversity and explore some of the obvious and subtle ways that religious ignorance or bias
show up in our workplaces. This interactive session will conclude with Tanenbaum's better practices around communicating effectively and respectfully in the workplace to help HR and D&I professionals create a culture of respect.

Liz will provide a review of new and noteworthy research and developments, best practices
and demographic data in diversity and inclusion strategy and management, leading into a
confidential member discussion of issues of concern and questions for peers.

Dr. Brian Levine, Mercer

Dr. Brian Levine is an expert on compensation analysis and leads Mercer’s pay equity
practice. He will discuss with members the recent ANPRM from OFCCP and why the agency
is not asking the right questions. Dr. Levine will also tell members what they should be
looking at to ensure their compensation is appropriately paying its employees.
