    • Clare will share her extensive experience of the personal and professional challenges which impact women developing business, particularly in the current economic climate. She will talk about the networks (Corporate Savvy; Women Don’t Risk) and mentoring she has developed to enable women to overcome the challenges

    • Paul Coleman, Head of Global Compensation, ORC Worldwide, London
    • In light of the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s recent report on gender pay differences in the UK financial sector, this session will look at the practical and strategic benefits for both the employer and employee of undertaking equal pay audits (irrespective of sector). Considering that many companies have now increased the visibility of their equality and diversity policies and statements, surely it is more important than ever before to determine whether pay disparity actually exists internally?

  • 3.15 pm The Gender Agenda - A Legal Update
    • Emma Phillips, Senior Associate, DLA Piper
    • This session will cover the legislative framework and key case law developments affecting the gender diversity agenda. We will consider the business benefits of gender diversity as a tool for changing attitudes from Board level down. In addition, this session will provide an update on the Employment Bill, to include, the key principles and the proposed approach to gender issues, in particular, pay secrecy clauses, the publication of pay data, positive action and the public sector equality and socio-economic duty.

    • Talent Management Processes for a Diverse Leadership Team
    • Mary Martinez, ORC Worldwide, gave a preview of the 2009 IRC study conducted by ORC.
      The objective of this study was to understand which talent management practices work
      best for uncovering high potential talent from nontraditional populations while making sure that talent is able to penetrate the senior leadership levels in substantial numbers.
      Participants included 47 US and European-based organizations (including 1 Australian); largely for-profit and 10,000 employees+
