Whilst the issue of Human Rights has long been on the radar of corporations through initiatives such as the global compact etc, it has generally been addressed within the Corporate Responsibility function, separate from the diversity agenda. However we are increasingly seeing developments that are infusing the human rights agenda with the diversity agenda (and vice versa). Recent examples include the challenges to gay rights in many countries in Africa, the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe; as well as the continuing challenge to women’s rights in many parts of the world. How are organisations addressing these challenges externally and internally? Does your organisation want to lead on these issues or follow local mores? Kate Vernon, Acting CEO Community Business (Hong Kong)
Kate will provide an overview of key diversity issues in Asia, sharing details of the work that Community Business is doing with leading multinationals in the region on gender , she will report on the findings of the 2009 Female Hang Seng Index, (a new report on women on boards), LGBT issues, the power of employee networks in Asia, and the impact of the ageing workforce in Asia.

 

ORC’s Latest Research- Global Diversity & Inclusion Benchmarking
Patrice Hall, Vice President, ORC Global Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Practice Patrice will lead a discussion of best practices in global diversity drawing on recent ORC research, including:

  • Building and sustaining a relevant global D&I structure;
  • Creating the global business case(s); and
  • Addressing the key challenge for global diversity practitioners - how to develop and align global and local diversity goals and strategies.
