ORC Network Member Craig Jones Makes Us Proud

Craig Jones, Director Diversity at Barclays Wealth, is a member of ORC's Vanguard Network and Global Diversity Forum. He also happens to be a retired Lt. Commander who served in the British Royal Navy for many years, including the period in 2000 when the U.K. lifted its ban on homosexuals in the armed forces. Craig testified in May before the House of Representatives committee considering whether the United States' "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy should similarly be abolished. While in the States, Craig was much sought after for media interviews and is quoted in almost every news article that appeared about the committee hearings. His remarks about the mild impact lifting the ban had on military operations were especially noted. The affect was actually positive, he testified, because the military was able to retain important talent and focus on its mission. "I'm not sure what we talked about in the military before we lifted the gay ban," Craig said, "but life afterwards became really, really dull, and we started talking about whether we should have more aircraft carriers and better equipment to deal with on the front line."
