Call for Nominations: The 2010 Peter Robertson Award
The 2010 Peter Robertson Award: Call for Nominations
ORC Worldwide is pleased to announce that we will again honour an extraordinary member of our Global Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (Global EDI) community. The ORC Peter Robertson Award for Equality and Diversity Champions, named for a pioneer in equality and diversity work, will recognise an exceptional individual from one of ORC’s Global Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Networks who exhibits the qualities and accomplishments that ORC and its member companies strive to develop in their organisations and as a model for all employers.
About the Award
Diversity practitioners often must labour in relative obscurity—unknown by the outside world and sometimes under-appreciated in their own organisations. Yet it is their ardor, ingenuity, and persistence that have brought about much of the progress employers have made in recognising the value of diversity and changing our culture and organisational systems for the better. The ORC Peter Robertson Award for Equality and Diversity Champions will recognize and increase awareness and appreciation of the contributions of the honoree, as well as all the dedicated people championing diversity in their organisations.
Criteria and Process for Nominations
Nominees for the award must work in organisations that are members of one or more of ORC’s Global EDI Networks. They should be exemplary diversity leaders or champions who have demonstrated personal and professional commitment to the proposition that diversity and equality strengthen organisations and communities, and have a record of signifi cant accomplishment advancing the art and practice of managing a diverse workforce. Past Robertson award winners have received nominations that demonstrate the individuals’ personal courage and illustrate their deep commitment to the advancement of equality and diversity. We will accept multiple nominations and supporting documentation for individuals nominated.
Nominations must be received no later than June 1, 2010. The winner of the 2010 Robertson Award will be announced on July 12, 2010.

About Peter Robertson
Peter Clendenin Robertson dedicated his life to furthering diversity in organisations and championing the rights of all employees to contribute fully. Before his untimely death in 1997, Peter chaired ORC’s Equal Opportunity Group (a predecessor to today’s Workforce Opportunity Network). He was in the forefront of the global diversity movement, helping to set up ORC equality and diversity networks in Europe and Canada, and acting as a trusted advisor to equality officials in the Canadian government. During his 12 year tenure with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission earlier in his career, Peter made an enduring contribution to enforcement of equality laws in the U.S.
Peter is remembered fondly by many in the business, government, and advocacy communities as a singular personality and a man of passion and commitment to the principles of equality and inclusion.
