Our discussion will focus on engaging business leaders in developing action plans to advance diversity and inclusion. Patrice Hall and Mary Martinez of ORC Networks Global Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Practice will lead the discussion. While HR leaders have a commitment to leveraging diversity and ensuring that D&I efforts are firmly linked to business objectives, many of us find that our organizations are comprised of senior leaders and line managers who find it difficult to effect real change in this arena. While there are many reasons for this, an oft-cited cause is an inability to ‘connect the dots’ between organizational processes and practices and the resulting D&I issues that may pervade their organizations. Patrice and Mary will share a proprietary framework that has been helping HR leaders guide their internal clients through a systematic process to evaluate the ‘health’ of their business units from a D&I perspective and then to create holistic action plans to address the issues they uncover. Given the increasing focus from regulators, boards of directors and other key constituencies on the need to ensure parity and equity across our organizations, this is an ideal time to re-visit strategies that will effectively engage line managers in D&I change initiatives.
